When it comes to traveling in the U.S. and cities to visit everyone is aware of the big cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando, etc. but there are many hidden gems across America that people often overlook as a travel destination.

BuzzFeed asked their community to share the small towns and secondary cities that tourists often overlook and are missing out on by not planning a vacation to. And lucky for us, we already live in Knoxville!

According to a BuzzFeed member this is what they had to say about Rocky Top,

Downtown and Old City are vibrant spots with many restaurants, shops, bars, and theaters. Plus, World’s Fair Park is gorgeous and perfect for enjoying one of Knoxville’s many festivals. Downtown North is turning into a hipster’s paradise of breweries and food trucks, and South Knoxville is filled with outdoor activities, including incredible hiking and mountain biking trails in the Urban Wilderness. Best of all, the city is only an hour away from Gatlinburg and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It has urban and outdoor fun all in one!

That’s the nice thing about Knoxville, you can find something to do in pretty much any neighborhood you’re in and when you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, we’re only a drive away from the mountains.

You can see the full list and plan your next vacation here.
