Some couples break up and get back together, and sometimes, the second time around, it sticks. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
On Tuesday, August 20th, J. Lo filed for divorce after only two years of marriage. According to the filed paperwork, she cited April 26, 2024 as their date of separation.
The couple had secretly tied the knot in Vegas on July 17, 2022 but held a ceremony with family and friends, in Georgia, on August 20, 2022. So she technically filed for divorce on their second ceremony anniversary.
Sources tell PEOPLE that it was “time to move on” for J. Lo due to Ben’s lack of effort.
Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage.
It’s unknown what was happening behind the scenes but the writing was on the wall as rumors started swirling in May that they were no longer living together, and they had spent the majority of the summer apart, on opposite coasts. In June, they listed their house on the market.
In the 2000s the couple was given the moniker “Bennifer. They were engaged in 2002 and then split in 2004.
Jennifer Lopez has been married four times, her longest one being to singer Marc Anthony, whom she shares her 16-year-old twins with. She’s been engaged six times. Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018.
