Nashville is known to be a big party city attracting visitors from all across America and beyond. It even has the nickname “NashVegas” since its become a hot spot for bachelor and bachelorette parties; so when it comes to “fun” you would think Nashville would be the first place to come to mind in Tennessee. However, according to a new survey Knoxville is the place to be if you’re looking to have a good time.

WalletHub analyzed 182 cities and ranked them in order as most fun based on three key factors:

  1. Entertainment & Recreation
  2. Nightlife & Parties
  3. Costs

Since everyone has their own definition of fun they looked at things like the number of places in each city that provided entertainment such as movie theaters, restaurants, amusement parks, pools, bars, pool halls, clubs, music venues, and concerts. WalletHub also took into consideration the last call for alcohol and legality of public drinking plus how much things cost.

Overall, Knoxville came in at #32 out of 182 while Nashville was not far behind at #36. Knoxville ranked significantly better when it came to costs so it’s no surprise that having fun in Rocky Top won’t crush your wallet the way Music City does.

Knoxville ranked as follows in the key categories:

  • Entertainment & Recreation: #41
  • Nightlife & Parties: #60
  • Costs: #10

Nashville was 38, 31, and 130 respectively.

Chattanooga placed at #46.

As far as the MOST fun in all of America, that honor went to the party capital itself… Las Vegas! WalletHub described it as,

Sin City is known for partying, and it’s one of the only cities in our study where public drinking is allowed in most or all places.
…When it comes to activities, Vegas unsurprisingly has the largest number of casinos in the country. But it’s also renowned for its performers, especially when it comes to music. The city has a very high number of music festivals and music venues relative to others.
