“What’s Luv” was Fat Joe’s first big commercial hit, back in 2002, the song featured Ja Rule and Ashanti and hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is his second biggest single, after “Lean Back” which was his first and only #1 single, with the Terror Squad. Joe has been doing interviews on social media during the pandemic and while talking to Ashanti last week, he broke the news to her that Ja and Irv wanted her replaced on the track with Jennfer Lopez.

In music, when a writer writes a song for an artist, they’ll record a demo track for the singer to reference which must have been what Ashanti had done, and Joe says that he was the one who went to bat for Ashanti to be kept on the song. I honestly can’t hear J-Lo being on this song, I’m glad Joe went to bat for Ashanti!
