It’s Halloween month and you may have already started celebrating by stocking up on your favorite candy or candies.
Every year the website, CandyStore.com releases the most popular candy in each state based on sales data and the top 3 for Tennessee have me questioning the taste buds of Tennessean’s. Do you agree with the results?
- Tootsie Pops
- Saltwater Taffy
- Skittles
Seriously?! Where’s the chocolate?! This can’t be right. While Tootsie Pops aren’t terrible, they definitely shouldn’t be #1 and Saltwater Taffy shouldn’t even be anywhere on this list. Skittles are the only good ones out of the three, but again, where’s the CHOCOLATE?!

As far as the overall popular candy, based on 15 years of data (2007-2022), Reese’s Cups and M&Ms rival for the top two spots while Hot Tamales (another horrible choice) somehow made its way to the top 3. Also, one of the most controversial Halloween candies, candy corn, is #8 in the top 10. Glad to see Tootsie Rolls aren’t on the list, and hopefully not in your bowl to hand out this Halloween.
