In December of 2020, Dolly Parton made waves when she announced that she wanted Beyoncé to remake her classic song “Jolene,” and of course that made waves, well while doing an interview on The Daily Show, with James Patterson to promote their new book; Run, Rose, Run, she went into detail about why she wanted Beyoncé to remake the song (skip to 8:30).
“I think she’s fantastic and beautiful, and I love her music. I would just love to hear ‘Jolene’ done in just a big way, kind of like how Whitney (Houston) did my ‘I Will Always Love You,’ just someone that can take my little songs and make them like powerhouses. That would be a marvelous day in my life if she ever does do ‘Jolene.’”
