Drake Claims Music Charts Were “Fixed” After ‘Scorpion’ To Give Other Artists “A Fair Shot”

Drake’s fifth studio album, Scorpion, came out in June 2018. In its first week, it was streamed a record-breaking one billion times, which was never done before. The project was also certified platinum the day it came out, and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Drake appeared on the Off The Record podcast with DJ Akademiks, saying, “Ever since we were running off the charts from Scorpion, they fixed the charts anyway. So, it is what it is. You know they had to give other people a fair shot, so the streaming isn’t what it was.”

Ad-supported streams were previously weighed more. However, the new change counts Billboard’s song and album rankings paid subscription service streams more.

According to chart data, “Her Loss” by Drake and 21 Savage is expected to sell 400k copies in its first week and is on track to make its number-one debut.
