America’s most famous competitive eater, Joey Chestnut, has ben BANNED from this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest that’s held every 4th of July.

What horrific thing could’ve Chestnut done to get banned from the competition that he’s dominated 16 times? He went vegan.

Bleacher Report says that the food athlete signed an endorsement deal with Impossible Foods, the plant-based food company. Per Major League Eating (MLE),

We are devastated to learn that Joey Chestnut has chosen to represent a rival brand that sells plant-based hot dogs…

For nearly two decades we have worked under the same basic hot dog exclusivity provisions. However, it seems that Joey and his managers have prioritized a new partnership with a different brand over our long-time relationship.

They went on to say that they hope Joey makes his return in the future when he’s “not representing a rival brand.”

Last year, Chestnut was offered a $1.2M, 4-year-long contract to represent Nathan’s. It’s unknown what his deal with Impossible Foods is, at this time.

Joey Chestnut has won Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest every year since 2016. He also set the world record for most hot dogs eaten at the competition in 2021, devouring 76 hot dogs.
