Knox County Health Department offering free dental care for children
The Knox County Health Department (KCH) has recently announced an initiative to provide free dental care services for children and young adults, aiming to improve oral health and overall well-being within the community. This program is designed to address the growing need for accessible dental care among younger populations, particularly those from low-income families who may struggle to afford these essential services. The free dental care initiative includes a comprehensive range of services such as routine check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and basic restorative procedures like fillings and extractions. By offering these services at no cost, KCHD hopes to prevent common dental issues such as cavities, gum disease, and other oral health problems that can have long-term impacts on a child’s health and quality of life.
Anyone ages 4-21 can receive dental services at the Knox County Schools Welcome Center at 535 Chickamauga Avenue
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of this program by scheduling appointments through the KCHD website or by calling their dedicated hotline 865-215-5131 to make an appointment.
The department also offers educational resources to help families maintain good oral hygiene practices at home, further supporting the long-term health of the community.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by KCHD to enhance public health services and reduce health disparities in Knox County. By addressing the dental care needs of children and young adults, the department is taking a significant step towards fostering a healthier, happier community.
