The first full month this month is happening tonight, and it’ll be worth catching a glimpse.

When can I see the “pink” moon?

Tuesday, April 23rd. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, it’ll be at its peak (and have 100% illumination) at 7:49 p.m. ET. They recommend viewing it from a clear area.

In Knoxville, the moon rises at 7:17 p.m. tonight.

Is It Really Pink?

The Pink Moon, also known as April’s full moon, is a beautiful sight to behold in the night sky. Despite its name, the Pink Moon does not actually appear pink in color. Bummer, Barbie fans.

Instead, the moon will be at its “biggest and take on a golden hue.”

Why is it Called “Pink” Moon?

The name comes from the pink flowers, known as wild ground phlox, that bloom during this time of year in North America.

The Pink Moon is a time of renewal and growth, as it marks the beginning of spring and the start of the planting season for many cultures. It is a time to celebrate the beauty of nature and the promise of new beginnings.
