From pop culture to AI and just a bunch of random words and phrases, Dictionary.com has updated their collection by adding 566 new words.

In addition to adding new words, they’ve also revised the definitions on over 2,000 words since language is always evolving.

Some words/phrases you’ve likely heard or even used yourself, while others might make you say “what the heck does that mean?!” These include:

  •  Nepo baby

a celebrity with a parent who is also famous, especially one whose industry connections are perceived as essential to their success.

  • Blursday

a day not easily distinguished from other days, or the phenomenon of days running together.

  • Information Pollution

the introduction of falsehood, irrelevance, bias, and sensationalism into a source of information, resulting in a dilution or outright suppression of essential facts.

  • GPT

generative pre-trained transformer: a type of machine learning algorithm that uses deep learning and a large database of training text in order to generate new text in response to a user’s prompt.

  • Stress eating

emotional eating, especially in response to stress, tension, or anxiety.

The one that I thought was the strangest had me say “WTF!” was shower orange and it’s literally eating an orange in the shower. This stemmed from a social media trend inspired by “shower beer.” I’m both intrigued and confused, but at least we’re not eating tide pods again.
