Legendary comedian, Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at the age of 67 after suffering from a “long term illness” his family released a statement on Gottfried’s Twitter account of his passing.

Glenn Schwartz, Gottfried’s rep, told TMZ the comedian died from a heart abnormality called ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II.
Ventricular tachycardia is “a heart rhythm problem caused by irregular electrical signals in the lower chambers of the heart,” according to, the Mayo Clinic, Myotonic dystrophy is a type of genetic muscular dystrophy that, according to National Institutes of Health, affects “the muscles and other body systems.” Condolences to Gottfried’s family, friends and fans.
