Ellen Addresses Toxic Work Environment Claims On 18th Season Premier

Over the summer the Ellen DeGeneres Show was under investigation for misconduct after claims of a “toxic work environment”from former employees of the show. Today was the season premier of her 18th season, and she returned to the studio for the show with virtual fans and addressed the allegations that were levied against her. She apologizes for the people who felt the way that they felt and acknowledged (it seems) that she didn’t know about said allegations.

As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show and then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that every seriously and I want to say I am so sorry to the people that were affected. I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.

In addition she mentions the pandemic, racial injustices that have been happening and announced that her DJ, tWich, is now the Co-Executive Producer of the show.
