Back to school is right around the corner, tonight on Real Talk we talked about families, divorce and the effects that it has on kids, focusing on students in the classroom. In studio we had Meredeth Brannon, a Healthy Families Team Leader and Jamea Larkin, a Second Grade Teacher at Green Magnet Academy. We also talked to Kara Finger, Vice President of Programs with Big Brothers Big Sisters to talk about the role mentoring plays.
We talked about the effects divorce has on children, how parents should talk to them about it, and what to do to help kids through the process. Also buliding a support system, and how family, neighbors, teachers and coaches can be part of the support system.
Also got into a recurring topic on the show, plugging in and making a difference.
